Dear USA Marists,
Blessings as we recently celebrated the Marian feast day, Mary’s “Yes” to the Angel Gabriel and her openness to allow Jesus to enter our world through her.
As Marists, we are invited to live that same spirit each day: to be the Marian face of the Church, quietly and faithfully bringing Christ into the lives of those we encounter. In a world that so often feels burdened and uncertain, our simple presence, compassion, and faith can become a living “fiat,” allowing God to work through us in ways both seen and unseen.
As we are about to begin Holy Week, we are reminded that Mary walked with Jesus not only in moments of joy, but also through suffering, uncertainty, and loss. She remained close to her Son, trusting even when the path was difficult to understand. Today, so many of our brothers and sisters—especially young people—carry heavy crosses shaped by war, poverty, human trafficking, and other deep injustices. We are called to walk gently with them, to listen, to accompany, and, whenever possible, to help lighten their burdens with love and compassion.
The journey to Easter hope leads us through the sacred days of Good Friday and the quiet waiting of Holy Saturday. In these days ahead, may we remain close to the Lord, as Mary did—steady in faith, patient in hope, and open in love.
May Mary continue to guide us, inspire us, and remind us that even the smallest “Yes” can allow God’s grace to enter the world in powerful ways.
