Champagnat Day

On June 6th, the worldwide Marist community celebrated the Feast Day of St. Marcellin Champagnat. St. Marcellin’s vision and passion to teach young people, especially the least favored, inspires us over 200 years later. We, the Marists of Champagnat, still look to Mary, as Marcellin did, to be our ordinary resource in our daily lives as we make Jesus known and loved.

In celebration of Champagnat Day, US Provincial Br. Patrick McNamara led the US Province in prayer on Youtube. In case you missed it, you can pray along with Br. Patrick by clicking the following link or thumbnail below: Champagnat Day Prayer

Midday Memorare

Lost in the snow with their survival in question and hope fading quickly, St. Marcellin Champagnat and Bro. Stanislaus turned to Mary for her protection and help. That night in February of 1823 they prayed the Memorare and shortly, in the distance, Fr. Champagnat noticed the light from a lantern. He got Stanislaus up and made it to the safety of the Donnet family home. The lantern has become a special symbol for Marists and the Memorare a special prayer.

Join Marist Youth & Young Adults USA each day at 12 noon as we remember to pray for each other.

  • Step 1: Set an alarm on your phone for 12 noon local time.
  • Step 2: Make sure you set the alarm to repeat every day.
  • Step 3: When you hear that alarm or feel the vibration take a few moments and join Marists around the USA and the globe in our Midday Memorare.
