Molloy Celebrates St. Ann\u2019s Breakfast<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"President<\/a>Last month, Molloy welcomed over 30 former St. Ann\u2019s students for the annual St. Ann\u2019s Communion Breakfast. Stanners and guests celebrated Mass together in Molloy’s chapel, and afterward gathered for a delicious buffet breakfast. Alumni reminisced about the days at St. Ann’s, thumbed through yearbooks, and reconnected with other Stanners who have become familiar faces after attending several recent breakfasts.<\/p>\n

We heard many great stories that morning. John Burke ’57<\/strong> was flipping through newspapers from the St. Ann’s archives and found a photo of his father, John Burke Sr. ’18<\/strong>. Yes, John’s father was a graduate of St. Ann’s from the Class of 1918! He was on the 1917-18 Varsity basketball team, who were the “Champions of Catholic High Schools of Greater New York” that year. John Jr. was also an accomplished athlete at St. Ann’s on the track & field team. John Howley ’48 <\/strong>informed us that his grandson would be attending Molloy this fall, continuing the tradition of Stanners in their family. Tom Sarosy ’63 <\/strong>assembled his classmates from the Class of 1963 for the breakfast as well. Tom, along with Frank Fitzpatrick<\/strong>, Ernest Liebre<\/strong>, Damon Pouyat<\/strong>, and Stephen Surman<\/strong> (pictured above with President Karsten<\/em>) are among a group of alumni who went to St. Ann’s Academy’s grammar school and Molloy for a total of 12 years together between both schools. Ed Gaughran ’52<\/strong>, who attended the breakfast with his son, Dan, was excited to come back to Molloy and catch up with classmates Joseph Curley ’52<\/strong> and James Ginty ’52<\/strong>. Ginty is a charter member on the New York City Fire Department Bagpipe Band and is retired from Ladder 42. \"St.<\/a>There were many stories shared that day, showing just how important the St. Ann’s Breakfast has become. Not only is it an opportunity to honor our “Original Stanners”, but it is also a moment to to celebrate and preserve our history.<\/p>\n
