Molloy is proud to recognize our stellar Stanners for their outstanding AP achievements during the 2024\u201325 school year! A total of 937 exams were administered to 470 students, with nearly 90% earning a score of 3 or higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 also saw the highest number of AP scholars in Molloy history! AP Scholars are students who score a 3 or higher on three or more AP exams, and last year, 185 Stanners were awarded the AP Scholar Award, with the average AP exam score of these students being about a 4 out of 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AP Scholars are recognized under three different distinctions: The AP Scholar<\/strong> Award is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams; the AP Scholars with Honors<\/strong> Award is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams; the AP Scholars with Distinction<\/strong> Award is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Molloy’s First AP Capstone Diploma Recipients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Molloy is proud to announce that for the first time, nine students have earned the AP Capstone Diploma! The AP Capstone Diploma program helps students develop critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills that are essential to academic and career success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b\u200bTo earn the AP Capstone Diploma, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and on four additional Advanced Placement (AP) Exams of their choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AP Seminar and AP Research assessments are project-based and evaluate skills mastery through group projects, presentations, and individual essays completed throughout the year. AP Seminar and AP Research are interdisciplinary. Students are encouraged to create research projects based on topics of personal interest and are assessed on the critical thinking, research, collaboration, time management, and presentation skills needed to complete their projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speech & Debate Competes in Local Tournament<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 25th, Molloy\u2019s Speech and Debate Team competed at the Jackie Newton Memorial Tournament at The Mary Louis Academy! 11 Stanners attended and brought home multiple awards, including Molloy\u2019s first team trophy of the season after placing 1st overall in Debate Sweepstakes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryder Lombardo \u201827<\/strong> and Matthew Xiao \u201827<\/strong> earned 1st place in Varsity Public Forum, receiving a half qualification for the NYS Championships. Lucas Liu \u201827<\/strong> also took 1st place in Lincoln Douglas Debate, while James Lukose \u201828<\/strong> and Gongchen Liu \u201828<\/strong> placed 3rd overall, just one round shy of finals. In Speech events, Juliette Bonello \u201827<\/strong> was a finalist in Dramatic Performance, and Avinash Harpaul \u201826<\/strong> was a finalist in Advanced Student Congress. Congratulations to all competitors, including Juneaux Fabello \u201827<\/strong>, Michelle Musse \u201827<\/strong>, Emily Shiwnaraine \u201828<\/strong>, and Sophia Maharaj \u201828<\/strong>, for competing and rounding out the entries!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday October 24th, eighth graders from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs visited Molloy for a day retreat. The retreat focused on the theme of “listening to God’s call” and how these eighth graders can discern what God is calling them to do as they prepare to graduate from OLQM. The eighth graders were led by 4 of our outstanding Stanner retreat leaders. We shared prayer, reflections, and took part in challenges that brought the theme of “Listening to God’s Call” to life. We truly hope that God calls many of you to Molloy next year as members of the class of 2030!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday November 4th, the JV & Varsity Girls Softball program took part in an after school athletic team retreat. The afternoon was centered around the theme of “Softball Sisters.” Players prayed together, shared reflections, and participated in a variety of games, challenges, and team bonding activities. The Family Spirit was palpable and felt throughout the afternoon! A huge shout out to our “Softball Sisters” for bringing their presence and openness to yesterday’s retreat. We cannot wait to see how far this family will go this season!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Molloy Freshman Boys 3rd place. Best finish since 1989. Freshman Girls 2nd place. Best finish since 2000. CHSAA Intersectional Champs on 11\/8\/25 and NYS Champs on 11\/22\/25.<\/td><\/tr>

On Friday, October 24th, over 300 alumni, parents, and friends gathered to celebrate Molloy Oktoberfest! This annual event has become a beloved tradition for our community, as it brings Stanners, families, and friends across generations together for a fun-filled evening. Our community enjoyed a memorable night of great company, delicious food, live music by Die Spitzbuam, dancing by Die Erste Gottscheer Tanzgruppe, and even stein holding!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations to our two stein holding winners: back-to-back winner Katie Twomey<\/strong> for the women’s competition, and Marcin Drozd<\/strong> for the men’s competition! Think you\u2019ve got what it takes? Start training for next year! Congratulations as well to Mr. Oktoberfest himself, Joe Smallwood ’11<\/strong>, who won our 50\/50 raffle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Rebecca Wagner ’14<\/strong>, organizer of the event and member of the dance group, expresses her thanks to the Stanner community for supporting Molloy Oktoberfest. Rebecca shares, “There’s no better feeling than seeing so many familiar faces year after year at what has become my favorite Molloy event. It is the people who truly make Oktoberfest so special and excite us to be able to host this for the community.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Molloy Softball Program Celebrates 25 Years of Champions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, October 26th, Molloy welcomed 25 years of softball champions and their families for a grand silver anniversary celebration of a quarter-century of Molloy Softball! The event honored champions spanning the first 25 years of the program, celebrating the family spirit and community that softball has fostered. Alumnae from many different classes were in attendance to proudly represent their teams!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Br. Dan O’Riordan ’85<\/strong>, US Provincial attended the event and offered the invocation, sharing that softball, like many sports at Molloy, brings us together as a family within a family. He spoke of the relationship the softball players have formed over the years and how it very much reflects the bond he has with his track & field teammates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Maureen Rosenbaum<\/strong>, who served as head coach of the varsity softball team for over 20 years, presented many of the alumnae in attendance with 25th anniversary medals, signifying their contributions to some of Molloy’s most elite championship teams. Alumnae who received medals represented classes from the early 2000s through 2025. In addition, several players received special recognition as among the top softball performers in Molloy history, earning votes for Stanner Athlete of the Year in their respective seasons. These prestigious “Wall of Honor” awards were presented to: Janell Boyd ’09<\/strong>, Kelsey Carr ’20<\/strong>, Victoria Goldbach ’12<\/strong>, Maria Palmeri ’12<\/strong>, Alexandra Yule ’15<\/strong>, and Amanda Zeni ’15<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, the players used the event as their opportunity to thank and honor Maureen, affectionately known to many players and assistant coaches as Rosie. Julianne Keyes ’09<\/strong> played for Maureen, served as one of her assistant coaches, and worked alongside her as a member of Molloy’s faculty. Julianne provided heartfelt remarks, crediting Coach Lou Santos <\/strong>and Maureen for creating a program that “didn’t just change your game, it changed your life.” Julianne also shared, “This program is where we met our best friends and our chosen family. Coach Lou is the oxygen of this program \u2014 he’s the constant, the heartbeat, the energy that keeps it all alive. Without him, none of this would exist. Rosie, you have this gift of making every player feel seen, known, and loved. That’s something rare, something that lasts long after the final out.” Maureen followed with her own remarks, sharing that she remains proud of how hard all the coaches have worked to keep the program going strong over all these years. Maureen then graciously accepted an award for her many years of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also during the event, the parents of the late Derek “DJ” Southerland ’13<\/strong> were invited to the dais by Coach Lou to accept a home plate plaque dedicated to Derek and his many years of enthusiastic service to Molloy softball and all Stanner sports. Jhanell Directo ’13<\/strong> spoke about Derek and noted the warm presence and wonderful spirit he embodied for many players and teams through the years. Derek’s parents were truly touched to receive the plaque as well as to spend time with Derek’s softball family. Derek will always remain a beloved figure in Molloy sports history, as well as a true champion of our athletic program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a wonderful celebration of family and athletic achievement, capped by many smiles, stories, fond memories, and the realization that these bonds will continue for generations to come. Thank you to Coach Lou Santos, Coach Maureen Rosenbaum, and all the players and families that came out to celebrate our wonderful softball program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
