Thank You Br. Thomas, Br. Bob, Mrs. Loo, & Sr. Susan!
Everyone at Molloy extends their sincerest thanks and best wishes to several members of our administration, faculty and staff who have moved on from Molloy as of June 2015. Earlier this year it was announced that Br. Thomas Schady, Molloy’s Principal since 2009, had been selected by the new US Marist Provincial, Br. Patrick McNamara, to serve as the new Director of Marist Education. “Working at Molloy has been a most rewarding experience. The message and mission of the Marist Brothers is alive and well here,” said Br. Thomas. “Molloy has the best students of any school I’ve been associated with. They are generous with their time, spirited, ambitious, and have a wonderful sense of humor. This comes from the guidance and direction of their teachers, coaches, counselors, and my fellow administrators.” Asked what his proudest accomplishments as Principal were, Br. Thomas was quick to answer. “The introduction of a one-to-one computing program was a key moment in Molloy’s history. I am also proud of the inclusion of the Director of Student Activities position, which has helped us to prioritize our students’ school spirit.” Looking ahead, Br. Thomas looks forward to remaining engaged with the Molloy community. “The new Provincial office will be based in Forest Hills at Our Lady of Mercy, so we will be in Molloy’s backyard. That said, I am looking forward to supporting my Marist administrative team and assisting their vision of new beginnings for the province. I plan to make myself available to Molloy as a resource to help however my expertise is most needed.” (Pictured: Br. Thomas Schady celebrates Spirit Week 2015 with freshmen students.)
Br. Bob Andrews, a social studies teacher and track coach at Molloy since 1975, retired from teaching this June. He will continue, however, to work as a coach – a passion he does not plan to give up for a long time. Elsewhere, Sr. Susan Dean also retired from teaching in June after having taught religion at Molloy for the past 9 years. “It has been a joy and privilege to minister at Molloy. I can honestly say I have experienced the Marist Charism uniquely expressed in each faculty member and student. This is a wonderful professional and educational environment to be in,” said Sr. Susan. Lastly, Mrs. Christine Loo, a college guidance counselor and SMILE counselor for the past 7 years, announced she will move on to work as the Director of College Counseling at The Stony Brook School. “I learned so much at Molloy. I was blessed to work with wonderful students and a dedicated faculty. The faculty’s care and desire to see each student learn and grow has definitely rubbed off on me. Thanks to my colleagues who were true examples of what it means to be a teacher in every sense of that word.” Thank you Br. Thomas, Br. Bob, Sr. Susan, and Mrs. Loo for your outstanding service to the Molloy community!
Law / Finance Event Connects Stanner Professionals
Thanks to the generosity of Matt T. McLaughlin, Esq. ’87 and Venable LLP, Molloy’s Law and Finance Alumni Networking Event was a complete success. With over 70 alumni and friends in attendance, including seasoned veterans, younger professionals and college students, the event offered a unique opportunity for our community to connect and learn from each other. Alumni enjoyed food and beverages provided by Venable LLP as well as thoughts from guest speaker Michael R. Manley, Esq., a partner at the company. Manley has significant private sector experience as a general counsel with major investment firms and operating companies. He has dealt with both the law and finance sides of his business, making him the perfect guest speaker.
“It is wonderful to see in the last several years how the Stanner community is continuing to grow and flourish from the halls on Manton Street to Wall Street,” said Alumni Development Director Craig Katinas ’93. “There is an underlying theme of Stanners wishing to help one another personally and professionally. It was really heartwarming to see the college volunteers having business cards handed to them by alumni in high management positions. I hope that this is the start of something bigger to come for them, and I encourage other younger alumni to consider attending events like this in the future.”
Thank you to Matt McLaughlin, Venable LLP, and our Lawyers and Finance Network Committees for their insights and ongoing support, and thank you to our alumni and friends in attendance for supporting this event.

Molloy Celebrates St. Ann’s Communion Breakfast
On Sunday, June 7th, Molloy celebrated its annual St. Ann’s Communion Breakfast with over 25 St. Ann’s alumni and their guests. Also joining the Stanner Alumni Center for the event were members of the class of 1963, Tom Sarosy and Damon Pouyat, who attended St. Ann’s during their elementary years. This event is an important tradition for our school, as it allows us to pause and reflect on over 123 years of excellence in education, faith, athletics and service. Our St. Ann’s alumni built the foundation from which all of Molloy’s standards have endured, and it is a privilege and honor any time we have a chance to celebrate with them.
Several of our original Stanners took the visit as an opportunity to tour Molloy, checking out the St. Ann’s showcase, Hall of Fame, Jack Curran Gym and William J. Murphy Library along the way. Mass, celebrated by Fr. Jim Cunningham in the first floor chapel, opened the morning program, after which all guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the faculty café featuring pancakes, sausage, crispy bacon, omelets, and spreads of muffins, bagels, fruits and more. President Richard Karsten ’81 provided a warm welcome to all in attendance. “You’ll be happy to know that our students continue to carry on the traditions of St. Ann’s. Our ‘Stanners’ are intelligent, enthusiastic, creative, and always willing to jump in and help their neighbor. Thank you for providing such a powerful example for generations of students.” Alumni chatted, flipped through yearbooks, talked about the Marist Brothers, and were reminded of the golden days at St. Ann’s. We spoke with many in attendance and heard some truly fascinating stories. Several of these stories will be featured in the upcoming issue of Stanner Life magazine, so be on the lookout for its release this July. It was a pleasure to talk with so many St. Ann’s alumni at this year’s event, and we look forward to hosting them and even more alumni at future events. Class Updates
Tony Timpone ’81 is well known among fans of the horror genre. The longtime editor of Fangoria Magazine and Fangoria.com who stepped down from those roles in 2010 has built a cult following of his own, having written about and reviewed films, television, books, and comics for over 30 years. In the past he has served as a special counsel to film directors, a consulting producer for the now-retired Fangoria Radio, and has co-produced numerous “Weekend of Horrors” conventions. He also has a book, Men, Makeup, and Monsters: Hollywood’s Masters of Illusion and FX, to his credit. A spokesman of sorts for all things horror, Tony recently published an article on www.chillertv.com titled The 13 Greatest Vincent Price Movies. He even collaborated on the article with Price’s daughter and official biographer, Victoria. “The actor [Price] will always be remembered for his horror and villainous roles by generations of monster kids,” said Tony. | READ THE ARTICLE

Sometimes our alumni do remarkable things. Other times, they just do funny things. In the case of Tim McGeever ’05, he made quite a few people laugh this week. In fact he recently went viral across social media after earning the dubious honor of breaking the replica set of Seinfeld at Hulu’s fan experience event on its very first day. Video of the incident confirms that Tim’s excitement simply got the better of him, but most of us would have been just as excited. Thanks for making us laugh (with you), Tim!
We are saddened to share the passing of Dan McBride ‘82 at the age of 51. He is survived by his wife and three children. Please pray for the McBride family.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Timothy Ryan, father of Vince Ryan ’87.
