40th Annual Jim Kinnier Stanner Golf Classic – THANK YOU!
On behalf of everyone at Molloy, we offer our sincerest thanks to all alumni, corporate sponsors, family, and friends who supported this year’s milestone 40th Annual Jim Kinnier Stanner Golf Classic! Thank you to the many enthusiastic volunteers who contributed to the day running smoothly at all four golf courses. Special thanks also to the Kinnier and Gibbons families, who continue to support the outing that their loved ones, Jim Kinnier and John Gibbons, laid the foundation for.
One of our biggest annual fundraisers, the Golf Classic has raised over $3 million in support of scholarships since 1987. Countless outstanding students have benefited from the generosity of so many in our community who have supported this outing for so many years.
Despite what was shaping up to be a poor weather forecast, the weather ultimately held out, and our golfers had the opportunity to play a full round without rain! It turned out to be a great day out on the greens, highlighted by great company and plenty of laughs. The evening program included special recognition for many past Honorees, Chairs, and Golf Board members, as we paid homage to their efforts to support the Golf Classic over the past four decades. We also saw great participation in our auction and raffles! Winners will be announced formally in an upcoming communication.
We will share photos from all four courses soon! In the meantime, please click the button below to download our Digital Journal, featuring ads from many Stanner-owned or Stanner-friendly businesses. Once again, from all of us at Molloy – THANK YOU for making the day a resounding success!
Educational Adventures: Stanners in South Korea and Japan!
*Full story at www.molloyhs.org/news*
Each school year, Stanners have the opportunity to travel the world through Ms. Dorothy DeNoto’s Educational Adventures. This year, Ms. DeNoto, along with Mr. Brian Klimas ’98, Ms. Abbey Hipkin, Mr. John Attard ‘06, President Richard Karsten ’81, Mrs. Kathleen Karsten, and 49 Stanners, journeyed to Asia to explore South Korea and Japan!
The trip, titled K-Pop & Culture – Epic South Korea & Japan, ran from April 1st to April 12th, with the first half spent in South Korea and the remainder in Japan. In South Korea, Stanners immersed themselves in culture through a K-Pop dance class, visits to landmarks like Gyeongbokgung Palace, Myeong-dong Cathedral, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, as well as excursions to Nami Island and the Garden of Morning Calm. They also experienced local markets and rode the KTX high-speed train! In Japan, the group traveled to Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Tokyo, visiting iconic sites such as Mount Fuji National Park, the Bamboo Forest, Harajuku, and Shibuya Crossing. Activities included a manga art class, ziplining, a Lake Ashi cruise, a geisha performance, and karaoke. Throughout the trip, students also explored each country’s food scene, enjoying everything from street food to BBQ and hotpot.
Pictured: Molloy’s travelers learned to draw characters in a Manga Art Class! The artwork has since been hung in Molloy’s first floor hallway.
“The trip was especially meaningful for its rich cultural exposure,” said Ms. DeNoto, noting its strong appeal to students interested in K-Pop, anime, and experiencing Asia firsthand. President Karsten echoed this enthusiasm, describing the experience as an exciting opportunity to explore local customs, cuisine, and the blend of ancient and modern life across major cities in Korea and Japan. Sophomore Anabella Tarnawa ’28 added that the 12-day trip was “packed with activities,” allowing her to fully experience each country.
Both the 2027 and 2028 trips are now accepting registrations! Contact Ms. DeNoto to learn more about joining her on an Educational Adventure!
The Ray Egan Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society
On April 30th, 22 juniors and seniors were inducted into Molloy’s chapter of the Ray Egan Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society! The ceremony, led by chapter president Rinat Moshel ‘26 and secretary Dana Seo ‘26, welcomed these stellar Stanners into the prestigious society named after the late Mr. Raymond Egan, who taught Social Studies at Molloy from the early 1960s into the 2000s.
Rinat began the ceremony by informing inductees on the meaning of the term “Rho Kappa,” which symbolizes the belief that “knowledge without service is useless.” Dana conducted the candle lighting ceremony while Rinat explained the significance of each one: white for truth, green for knowledge, gold for wisdom, and blue for service. Each of the 22 juniors and seniors then recited the Rho Kappa pledge, received a certificate and a pin, and officially became Rho Kappa scholars!
A big thank you to Ms. Jennifer Lamb, moderator of the honor society, for guiding our students in truth, knowledge, wisdom, and service, and congratulations to the new Rho Kappa inductees!
Spanish Class Reads Bilingual Books to Elementary Students
In early May, students in Ms. Espinal’s Spanish class traveled to Washington Heights to visit KIPP Elementary School, where they spent time reading with a kindergarten class. As part of the visit, Molloy’s Stanners created bilingual children’s books in English and Spanish, which they proudly shared with the younger students.
Ms. Espinal described the experience as “exceptionally meaningful,” noting that it “helped break language barriers that many students and their families face.” She added, “By creating bilingual books, we were able to provide something that students can take home and read with their parents, allowing families to connect and enjoy the stories together.”
The trip offered a powerful opportunity for our students to see the real impact of their work while giving back to the community in a thoughtful and lasting way.
Stanners Compete at SJU Hack-a-Thon
On May 6th, computer science teacher Ms. Destiny Barbery accompanied 11 Stanners to the St. John’s University’s Hack-a-Thon! There, students competed in a hack-the-box tournament, using their cybersecurity skills to work through simulations on lab machines to solve complex problems. In addition to the competition, they also had the opportunity to tour SJU’s homeland security and cybersecurity labs, gaining valuable insight into the field and its real-world applications!

“Something Bigger Than Yourself: The Story of Molloy Softball”
As we continue our celebration of 25 years of women at Molloy, we proudly recognize the silver 25th anniversary of Molloy Softball. Molloy presents, in collaboration with our softball community, a special documentary highlighting the program’s rich history and lasting impact.
That tradition of excellence continues today. Our 2024–25 Varsity team earned the prestigious Easton NFCA Top Team GPA Award, finishing with an outstanding 4.0 team GPA, a true testament to their commitment both on the field and in the classroom.
This year’s squad continues to excel, as the team was ranked 3rd in New York State (Class AAA) as of May 5, 2026. Our senior class has demonstrated remarkable dedication and success, with three student-athletes committing to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level: Kimmy Piazza ’26 (St. John’s University), Alicia Acevedo ’26 (John Jay College of Criminal Justice), and Megan Chelius ’26 (Union College). In addition, junior standout Diem Nenadich ’27 has already committed to Hofstra University.
This season is shaping up to be another memorable one, as our JV team holds an impressive 10–1 record, while Varsity stands at 16–1 overall. As we cheer our teams to victory, we recognize how we got here. Please enjoy this special presentation. Click the player above to watch now.

Submitted by Tony O’Shea ’83: “In early May, a group of 30 ‘merry pranksters’ made it to the fourth annual “AMHS Class of ’83 DirtFest” at Maggie’s Place in midtown Manhattan. Not surprisingly, a fine time was had by all. While classmate Kenny Smith ’83 wasn’t able to join in person, he nonetheless made an appearance, albeit on an overhead television screen commenting on the Knicks game.”
Congratulations to Faith Wagner ’25, who was recently named to the NE10 All-Conference Rookie Team!

Please keep Br. Owen Ormsby ’74, US Vice Provincial, in your prayers as he recovers from recent surgery.
