Greetings All USA Marists,
As we begin this sacred Season of Lent, may each of us find the grace over these forty days to journey inward—into the quiet of our own “deserts.” In that sacred silence, may we encounter the Lord more deeply and experience a true renewal of heart. Like Mary, may we walk attentively with Christ, allowing His path to shape our own.
May this Lenten season invite us to embrace more intentional prayer, meaningful fasting, and generous almsgiving. In these simple yet profound practices, we open ourselves to God’s transforming grace.
You will find here a few helpful suggestions for prayer resources to support your Lenten journey. The Marist Fathers also created a Marist Lenten Calendar.
As a concrete expression of almsgiving, I invite you to consider joining fellow Marists in one of our Marist Hearts in Action offerings this Lent, or supporting our Province-wide Solidarity Projects. In doing so, we extend Christ’s compassion to those most in need.
I encourage each of you to reflect: What might God be calling you to “fast from” this Lent? And how might the time and energy gained be devoted more fully to Him and to the service of others?
Finally, Pope Leo recently issued his Message for Lent, in which he shares, "Dear friends, let us ask for the grace of a Lent that leads us to greater attentiveness to God and to the least among us. Let us ask for the strength that comes from the type of fasting that also extends to our use of language, so that hurtful words may diminish and give way to a greater space for the voice of others. Let us strive to make our communities places where the cry of those who suffer finds welcome, and listening opens paths towards liberation, making us ready and eager to contribute to building a civilization of love." Wishing you a meaningful and grace-filled Lenten journey.
