On September 7th, Carlo Acutis was canonized a saint by Pope Leo XIV. In his short life, just 15 years, St. Carlo reached millions of young people around the world with the teachings of the Catholic Church through his creation of websites and social media channels dedicated to evangelization.
Br. Dan O'Riordan '85, US Provincial, shares, "Countless young people re-connected with their faith because of St. Carlo's witness and efforts. This past summer during our Province Pilgrimage to Assisi, we had the opportunity to visit his tomb. It was a profound moment to pray before this young man dressed in jeans and sneakers. I could not help think of all the young people that same age who have come into our lives, as Marists. We have been so blessed and graced to work with amazing young people. Some of my greatest heroes have been so many of those young people who I had the privilege to know. They were truly 'saints' in my life as they so often deepened my faith and were inspiring Pilgrims of Hope to me. Likewise, I can only imagine that St. Marcellin always counted the dying boy, Jean-Baptiste Montagne, as a 'saint' in his own life."
