    Dear USA Marists,

Blessings to each of you during these sacred days of this Easter season. As we journey through these weeks and await the great Feast of Pentecost, I pray that we might, like the early disciples, gather in our own “Upper Rooms” within our communities and seek ways to bring the miracle of Christ’s Resurrection to life in a world that so deeply longs for hope.

May we continue to listen to the voice of Mary, who accompanied those first disciples and inspired the earliest days of our Church. As Marists, we are called to walk in her way—to be the Marian face of the Church today—open to the Holy Spirit and ready to go forth as Christ’s witnesses “even to the remotest parts of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

With prayers, hope, and the joy of the Risen Christ,

    --- Br. Dan O'Riordan '85, Provincial

Jim Kinnier Stanner Golf Classic – THANK YOU!

Archbishop Molloy High School sincerely thanks you, our amazing community, for your support of the 39th Annual Jim Kinnier Stanner Golf Classic on Monday, May 12th! It was a beautiful day underscored by the generous support of our alumni, parents, corporate sponsors, and friends. Whether you participated as a golfer, sponsor, volunteer, or by way of our auction and raffles, you helped to strengthen Molloy’s scholarship program and the opportunities available to future scholarship recipients.

Your support of this year’s golf outing has made it possible for Molloy to provide scholarship to two incoming freshmen in the Class of 2029. Through the Jim Kinnier Scholarship and the John Gibbons Memorial Scholarship, these students will receive the gift of a Catholic Marist education at Molloy, which has served as a strong foundation for generations of Stanners. Once again, THANK YOU for your generosity.

We would also like to thank this year’s co-chairs, Thomas Arocho ’03 (Vice President, Business Development Director, Morgan Stanley) and Shaun Cheng ’04 (Account Executive, Signature Metal & Marble Maintenance). Together, Tom and Shaun worked hard to raise the profile of our outing, recruit new golfers and sponsors, and act as ambassadors for Molloy in their industries. Congratulations, and thank you for being wonderful honorees this year!

We invite our community to view this year’s digital journal, which features ads sponsored by many Stanner owned or Stanner friendly businesses. Click the button below to view the journal. Once again, thank you to everyone for your support. We will follow up with more information about our outing in a future Beehive, including links to full photo galleries from each of the four golf courses. Stay tuned!

Catholic Culture Club Prays for Pope Leo XIV

On May 15th, Molloy’s Catholic Culture Club met in our first floor chapel to discuss recent Catholic news and pray the rosary together. Club members discussed the recent Papal Conclave, the appointment of Pope Leo XIV, and how he compares to the late Pope Francis. Joining the club for this meeting were moderator Mr. Kilkelly, Director of Campus Ministry & Marist Mission Mr. Costa, the visiting Director of Marist Ministries Ms. Stacey Baker, and Molloy’s Chaplain Rev. Nicholas Colalella.

Before the group began to pray, senior Cristina Aliperti ’25 distributed rosaries she purchased from the city of Medjugorje during Molloy’s Europe trip over Easter break. She explained that she was thinking of her friends back home and wanted to buy the rosaries in Medjugorje because the city is said to be host to frequent apparitions of Mother Mary. The members of the Catholic Culture Club then shared their intentions – for loved ones, the faithfully departed, the soon-to-be graduating seniors, and for the success of Pope Leo XIV – before beginning the rosary.

Archbishop Molloy High School joins our Catholic Culture Club and Catholics around the world in welcoming Pope Leo XIV and praying for him as he leads our Church with faith and compassion.

Laudato Si’: St. Ann’s Courtyard Garden Blessed

In Pope Francis’s 2015 encyclical Laudato Si‘, he urged all of us to care for our common home, inspiring renewed ecological efforts around the world. Earlier this school year, members of Molloy’s Laudato Si’ student group decided they wanted to care for Molloy in a similar way, because it is a shared home for all Stanners. Together, they came up with a plan to update and beautify the St. Ann’s Courtyard, which is located next to the Ralph DeChiaro Theater. They submitted a proposal to the US Marist Province, emphasizing the support the Marist Brothers have shown for Laudato Si’ and ecological efforts globally. The US Province approved the proposal and awarded the students a $2,000 grant for their restoration project. With this investment, the students worked on the courtyard for several months. Their efforts included weeding, laying new soil, planting perennial flowers, adding a bird bath, and installing new lighting and a peace pole.

On May 1, 2025, Mr. Sam King, Director of Sustainability of US Marist Schools, joined students, faculty, and staff at Molloy for a blessing of the garden in the St. Ann’s Courtyard in celebration of the completion of the Laudato Si’ project. Campus Ministers Mr. Costa and Mr. Corrado, as well as Rev. Nicholas Colalella, Molloy’s Chaplain, led the prayer service. Rev. Colalella blessed the garden with holy water. Those in attendance reflected on how we can all continue to better care for our common home, and prayed for the Church, for all who work the land, for the St. Ann’s Garden, and for all who lack access to healthy food and clean water. Thank you to the Marist Brothers, to our Laudato Si’ student group, Campus Ministry, and to all who made this project possible!

12 Stanners Inducted Into Ray Egan Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society

12 juniors and seniors were inducted into the Ray Egan Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society on Wednesday, April 30th! The Molloy chapter is named after the late Mr. Raymond Egan, who taught at Molloy from the early 1960s into the 2000s. Mr. Egan was a Social Studies teacher, moderator of The Stanner newspaper, Chairperson of the History Department, and a beloved educator who cared deeply about his students.

Current Rho Kappa President Nick Vlachos ‘25 welcomed the inductees, and explained that members of this honor society are people who embody the ideals of “truth, knowledge, wisdom, and service.” Next, Secretary Gurpreet Heir ‘25 led the group in a Rho Kappa pledge, where they all promised to serve Molloy and their communities as strong leaders. Gurpreet and Vice President Melina Tobar ‘25 then handed each new member a pin and certificate, officially making them members of Rho Kappa!

Ms. Jennifer Lamb, moderator of Rho Kappa at Molloy, says, “I am very proud of the current cohort’s efforts in their service project for this year – a historical study of the school’s pivot to coeducation in 2000 and in their planning and execution of the induction ceremony.” Thank you, Ms. Lamb, and congratulations to all inductees!

Congratulations to: Camila Burga-Alcon ’25, Giuliana Como ’25, Amaya Fana ’25, Aoife Garvey ’25, Avinash Harpaul ’26, Shivanie Harpaul ’26, Gurpreet Heir ’25, Joshua Jarrett ’25, Kaylie Logrono ’25, Kristen Mussalli ’25, Melina Tobar ’25, and Allison Vargas ’25.

Stanners Participate in Model UN Competition at Columbia University

CESIMS was founded to increase access to Model UN, to develop critical thinking skills of students in the New York City area. CESIMS hosts a one day-long Model UN conference each semester. This conference is free and open to all students and delegations “in order to ensure greater access to Model UN for students in the tri-state area.” Molloy came away from the conference with three awards:

1. Jonathan Anugwo ’25 won Best Delegate (Ser Elmo Tully, House of the Dragon: Rhaenyra’s Council)
2. Moises Bien Nunag ’25 won an Honorable Mention (Agathon)
3. Anderson Azar ’28 won an Honorable Mention (India, UNODC)

Molloy’s Newest 3D Printer Offers Creative Possibilities

Molloy’s Computer Science & Engineering Department recently acquired a new Bambu 3D Printer, making for a total of four 3D printers in our lab! With the new printer now available, computer science teacher Mr. van Winkel asked two of his students, Jenny Jiang ’28 and Alex Bazenikas ’26, to test some of its functionality. Jenny, a talented artist, was asked to create a 2D sketch of a person. Mr. van Winkel took the sketch, scanned it, and turned it into a 3D digital object. Then, Alex, using software, made the object “3D printer ready.” The 2D sketch ultimately became a 3D-printed model! The result of the test was an exciting development, and it represents many new possibilities for Molloy students. Mr. van Winkel and his students are excited to continue exploring the printer’s capabilities!

25 Years of Molloy Softball – Alumnae Reunite to Celebrate Program

On Saturday, April 26th, Archbishop Molloy Softball held its first annual Alumni Softball Game & Family Fun Day. The first year of this event marks the celebration of Molloy Softball’s 25th Silver Anniversary! In attendance were many alumni and current players, as well as current head coach Lou Santos and retired head coach Maureen Rosenbaum.

For 25 years, Molloy Softball has helped Stanners form bonds and friendships that will last a lifetime. In addition to the friends made, our softball teams have also created memories on the field, including 5 Varsity Championships (2007, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017), a Catholic State Championship (2011), and a State Championship (2015).

At the event, reuniting alumni played a friendly softball game, and then enjoyed lunch. Families and kids enjoyed activities like ring toss and the batting cage, treats from cotton candy and popcorn machines, and visits from popular characters including Spongebob. In addition, the current varsity and JV players pitched in, spending time playing games and leading activities with the children of returning alumni!

“We had fun reuniting with all our alumni, it was so great to see everyone,” said Coach Santos. He says to look out for another Softball celebration later this year, so stay tuned! Thank you to all our alumnae and families who attended the celebration!

Alumni & Students Volunteer at Parish’s Day of Service

Andrew Mussalli ’93 recently volunteered as part of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament parish’s annual day of community service. His assignment was at Marguerite’s Pantry at Our Lady of Fatima in East Elmhurst. Upon his arrival at the pantry, Andrew was happy to see some younger volunteers wearing Molloy t-shirts. It turned out to be a group of two dozen current students who were also volunteering! “Molloy was the only school represented among 60+ volunteers,” said Andrew. “More importantly, every Stanner worked hard while demonstrating a genuine desire to serve with compassion and empathy. They diligently set up tables, arranged clothing, toiletries, diapers, and food, and distributed these essentials to hundreds of families in need.” Andrew said that two Molloy students even led the opening prayer that day, as they asked St. Marcellin Champagnat to pray for all volunteers and those receiving items at the pantry. “I was deeply moved by this sincere moment,” said Andrew. A great job by Stanners all around! Thank you, Andrew, for sharing this wonderful news for The Beehive.

Mr. Jim Sheehan ‘75, director of the Junior/Senior Chorus, proudly celebrated the singers’ vocals and ability to connect with the audience of friends, family, faculty, and staff.

The evening served as a fitting celebration of their hard work throughout the year and a memorable conclusion to Molloy’s Spring Concert series! Go Stanners!
