    Dear USA Marists,

Blessings as we recently celebrated the Marian feast day, Mary’s “Yes” to the Angel Gabriel and her openness to allow Jesus to enter our world through her.

As Marists, we are invited to live that same spirit each day: to be the Marian face of the Church, quietly and faithfully bringing Christ into the lives of those we encounter. In a world that so often feels burdened and uncertain, our simple presence, compassion, and faith can become a living “fiat,” allowing God to work through us in ways both seen and unseen.

As we are about to begin Holy Week, we are reminded that Mary walked with Jesus not only in moments of joy, but also through suffering, uncertainty, and loss. She remained close to her Son, trusting even when the path was difficult to understand. Today, so many of our brothers and sisters—especially young people—carry heavy crosses shaped by war, poverty, human trafficking, and other deep injustices. We are called to walk gently with them, to listen, to accompany, and, whenever possible, to help lighten their burdens with love and compassion.

The journey to Easter hope leads us through the sacred days of Good Friday and the quiet waiting of Holy Saturday. In these days ahead, may we remain close to the Lord, as Mary did—steady in faith, patient in hope, and open in love.

May Mary continue to guide us, inspire us, and remind us that even the smallest “Yes” can allow God’s grace to enter the world in powerful ways.

25 Years & Counting: A Celebration of Molloy Women!

by Sarah Quispe ’19 & Bianca Basone ’15

25 years ago, Archbishop Molloy High School made history in fall 2000 by enrolling young women for the first time. Since then, Stanner women have led through excellence and achievement, bettering our school and community in so many ways. They have also gone on to forge successful careers in many fields, with their impact to be felt for generations to come. On September 27, 2025 at the Milleridge Inn, our community came together for 25 Years & Counting: A Celebration of Molloy Women!

Molloy was honored to welcome alumnae from the past 25 Years, Stanner Hall of Famers, current and past faculty, and even current students and parents/guardians. Those in attendance heard inspiring remarks from speakers including Principal Dr. Darius Penikas, Stanner Hall of Famer Sr. Elizabeth Bickar, Engagement Coordinator Rebecca Wagner ’14, social studies teacher and GERLL Club co-moderator Sabina Kobinski ’04, Alumni Development Officer Sarah Quispe ’19, and Stanner Hall of Famer Mary Pat Gannon.

Those in attendance signed their names on a special commemorative board and viewed a timeline of historical moments from the past 25 years, including notable milestones like the creation of girls’ sports teams at Molloy (2000), the first female valedictorian and salutatorian (2004), and the founding of the Girls’ Empowerment for Real Life Leadership (GERLL) Club (2018)!

Ms. Gannon served as the event’s keynote speaker. A beloved figure in the Molloy community, Ms. Gannon devoted a remarkable 44 years of service to our school. She made lasting contributions with her voice, intellect, spirit, and deep care for her students and colleagues. As one of the first women to join Molloy’s faculty, she played a vital role in shaping the school’s future, especially through her leadership and support during Molloy’s transition to co-education in 2000. A trailblazer in every sense of the word, in 2008, she became the first woman inducted into the Stanner Hall of Fame. In her speech, Ms. Gannon reflected on the arrival of the first female Stanners, saying, “And then you were here—the first brave, intelligent, innovative female Stanners!…It was exhilarating…You have no idea how much you upped my game. I loved every single minute of it!”

Sarah Kuehl ’04, valedictorian for the first co-ed class of Stanners, said, “Myself and everyone who attended this event is leaving today so inspired by all of the amazing and excellent work that the women of Molloy have done and will continue to do in the future….[It’s] so exciting to continue to see this legacy build.”

Brianne Rosa ’08 expressed how this event exceeded her expectations: “I’ve never felt so inspired just being around all these Molloy women…I’m truly going to go back to my career as an English teacher with so much more passion and drive for excellence, because if there’s anything I’m taking away from this event, it’s that Molloy women don’t even strive for excellence, we just embody excellence.”

President Richard Karsten ’81 spoke about this historic 25-year milestone. “I have always believed that the decision to go coed is the Marist Brothers’ most important decision for Molloy. Now, 25 years later, I could not imagine a Molloy without young women and the teachers who lead the charge. Congratulations to all on your vision, tenacity, and true Marist spirit!”

We hope this inaugural brunch becomes the first of many opportunities for our Molloy Women to come together and celebrate all they have and continue to contribute to our school, and the world around them. Cheers to 25 Years!

Marist Brothers Elect New Superior General and Global Council

From September 8th through October 8th, the Marist Brothers held their 23rd General Chapter meeting in Tagaytay, Philippines. The General Chapter is a meeting of Marist province leaders from around the world, during which many aspects of the Marist Institute are discussed, and new leadership is occassionally elected. This year, the Marist Brothers elected Br. Peter Gerard Carroll (Australia) as the new Superior General of the Marist Institute, and Br. Hipólito Pérez Gómez (Spain) as the new Vicar General. A new General Council was also elected, consisting of: Carlos Alberto Rojas Carvajal – Norandina Province (Colombia), Deivis Alexandre Fischer – Province of Brazil South-Amazonia (Brazil), John Hazelman – Star of the Sea Province (Fiji), Juan Carlos Fuertes Marí – Mediterranean Province (Lebanon), Mark Okolo Omede – Nigeria Province (Nigeria), and Rajakumar Soosai Manickam – South Asia Province (India). These Brothers will serve as leaders for the global Marist community over the next eight years.

Br. Dan O’Riordan ’85, US Provincial, attended the General Chapter and shared, “The presence and contributions of the invited young Brothers and our Lay Marists were among the most impactful aspects of this Chapter. Their energy, faith, and prophetic voices will certainly be reflected in the forthcoming Calls [to action], which will offer us a clear and hope-filled roadmap for our ongoing journey together as Marists.”

Br. Dan also noted that the 23rd General Chapter theme was “Homes for All, Rivers of Life,” which will inspire Marists worldwide to “become builders of inclusive homes and bearers of hope and renewal in our world today, just as Champagnat did with l’Hermitage 200 years ago.”

Please join us in prayer for our new global Marist leadership, that they may continue to perpetuate the mission of St. Marcellin Champagnat by joyfully making Jesus Christ known and loved.

Stanners Celebrate Liturgies of the Holy Spirit

At the start of each school year, every grade comes together for their Class Liturgy of the Holy Spirit. These Liturgies are a meaningful way for students to join in prayer, reflect on their faith, and prepare for the school year ahead. Celebrants Fr. Nicholas Colalella, Fr. Anthony Rosado, and Bishop Robert J. Brennan highlighted the importance of unity, reminding students that each individual is valued, however, they are stronger together.

Bishop Brennan, who celebrated the Senior Class Liturgy, shared with the Class of 2026 that although each and every person in the room has their own individual traits and talents, they matter most when they are put together at the service of one another.

At each Mass, a cross was displayed, filled with the strengths and unique qualities of every member of the class. The cross served as a powerful symbol of how each student is an important part of Christ, as well as the Molloy family.

We are so grateful to Fr. Colalella, Fr. Rosado, Bishop Brennan, and our Liturgy Committee for helping us celebrate this annual tradition of the Liturgies of the Holy Spirit!

Listen: Junior/Senior Chorus Performs “Envía Tu Espíritu”

“Envía Tu Espíritu” is more than just a song, it is a tradition that lives on well after four years of high school! From school Liturgies to alumni events, many Stanners of the past 30 years know all the words by heart. It’s the song that brings us back to the halls of Stanner High, a true part of the Molloy soundtrack!

This performance was recorded during our recent Senior Liturgy of the Holy Spirit on September 30th. Special thanks to Chorus Director Mr. Jim Sheehan ‘75, as well as accompanists Mr. Dan Jones on drums and Mr. Ken Farnum on keyboard. And of course, congratulations to Molloy’s Junior-Senior Chorus on a job well done!

The Tradition Continues: Freshman Field Day

On September 26th, the Class of 2029 continued one of Molloy’s great annual traditions: Freshman Field Day! This event sees freshman homerooms compete against one another in a series of physical challenges including Basketball Free Throw, Soccer Penalty Kick, Chess Tournament, and a number of Track & Field events such as Long Jump, Shot Put, 100m Dash, relays, and more. To our alumni: do you remember your Freshman Field Day event?

The main attraction of the afternoon was, of course, the High Jump, which challenges students to clear the high jump bar as it gets raised higher and higher. This year’s event saw Sofia ’29 win 1st place in the girls High Jump and Mark ’29 finish 1st in the boys event. High Jump is always one of the most exciting parts of Field Day because all freshman homerooms join together in cheering for each competitor as they attempt to clear the bar. The higher the freshmen jump, the louder the cheers in the Jack Curran Gym!

Freshman Field Day has always been an important opportunity for our first-year students to build community early in the school year. We thank our Class of 2029 for their enthusiasm, as well as all our faculty and student volunteers for helping Molloy to carry on this wonderful annual tradition. Congratulations to this year’s Freshman Field Day champions, Ms. Winters and Homeroom 1G!

Stanners Explore New Interests at Activities Fair

At the start of each school year, Stanners have the chance to explore Molloy’s over 60 clubs and activities during our annual Activities Fair! On September 30th, the Jack Curran Gym was filled with excitement as students visited displays and learned about our extracurricular opportunities. From Theater Arts & Improv, Literary Magazine, and Speech & Debate, to Investment Club, Math League, and Intramural Sports, there was something for everyone to discover!

During the fair, Stanners were also treated to exciting performances from their classmates. Members of the Guitar Ensemble, Cheer Club, Dance Team, First Ladies Step Team, and D-Limitz Drum Club showcased their talents, kicking off the school year with energy and enthusiasm!

Boys Varsity Soccer and Girls Varsity Tennis both remain undefeated this season and are ranked #1 in their respective divisions. Senior tennis player Christina Kyrou ’26 (pictured above right) is also heading into the final week of the season undefeated in individual competition.
Congratulations to the freshman girls Track & Field team, who recently won the St. Anthony’s Invitational for the second time in team history. The freshman boys finished 4th at the same event even with three of their top seven team members unable to attend the meet. | Full Meet Results
Congratulations to Timothy Hider ’28, who recently broke Molloy’s sophomore 5K record at Sunken Meadow Park.
Thank you to our Stanners who have served as volunteers (pictured above left) for the CYO Track & Field program. In a note of thanks, CYO leadership credited Molloy students for helping to run and organize meets, saying Stanners have been a tremendous asset to the program over the years. “We are truly fortunate and grateful for all they do,” said Mr. Peter Moore, head of CYO Track.

Congratulations to St. John’s University on hosting its annual Sunday Supper — a spirited celebration of SJU Men’s Basketball and the proud Red Storm tradition. Pictured are SJU Board Members Craig Katinas ‘93, Shandue McNeill ‘93, Joseph Tarantino ’76, and James Shannon ’83, representing Stanner pride and leadership in support of St. John’s and its student-athletes. Many Molloy Stanners have gone on to thrive at St. John’s — a testament to our shared commitment to excellence, community, and leadership.

Congratulations to Kelly Grogan ’15 and Ray Maurer ’15 on their wedding this past August!
Kelly and Ray met at the very start of their Molloy journey: Freshman Camp in Esopus. They began dating as seniors and have been together ever since! Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Ravi Ramnarain, CPA, ’98 and his wife, Devyn Ramnarain, recently celebrated their 8-year wedding anniversary. The Naples, FL-based couple also recently celebrated their flagship CPA Firm, Ravi Ramnarain, CPA, LLC, being accepted as a Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) listed entity; this allows the Firm to handle the External Audits of SEC-listed / publicly-traded companies in the U.S. Congratulations, Ravi and Devyn!

We are saddened to share the passing of John M. Gallo ’93 on October 4, 2025. John is preceded by his father William Gallo and is survived by his loving mother Marie, wife Robin, children Julia, Thomas, and Michael, brothers Bill (Claire) and Stephen, and sister-in-laws Erin and Tracy (Joe), in-laws Patricia and Steve, nephews Max, Ryan, and Jake, and niece Emma.
